My husband and I recently moved into East Side Quarter to occupy one of AccessAccom’s SDA units in Penrith, next to Panther’s Club.
Mike is a paraplegic and the way the unit is set up meets all his needs and helps him to live as independently as possible with as much support as he might need.
The move has been life changing for both of us. As a wife & carer it gives me peace of mind knowing Mike is safe & well cared for if I’m not there. There are full time carers working here and are available 24 hrs a day.
The complex is not only secure but it has different people living here of all ages which is nice, everyone has been accepting of Mikes disability and extremely friendly.
Everything we need is so close. The shops, public transport, movies, bowling, gym for people with disabilities, plenty of places to eat, walking tracks with fully accessible pathways and every other support services that Mike needs to access.
Coming from public housing where everyday activities were hard and most of the time impossible for Mike to do, like cooking a meal, having kitchen bench-tops that were too high for him to reach, not being able to access the laundry and having wide enough doors for his wheelchair to go through.
These activities are no longer a problem because the units here have been designed for people in wheelchairs to be able to access everything in them, they are not only functional but beautiful brand new modern units.
We would fully recommend this lifestyle no matter what your disability is as everything you need is available.
